In Rouen, messages of threats of an attack targeting the Flaubert high school were taken very seriously by the authorities. Civil security deminers mobilized on Thursday. After reopening its doors on April 13 in the afternoon, the school received a new threatening letter. It will be closed again this Friday “for the sake of precaution”.
The Gustave Flaubert high school in Rouen closes its doors this Friday all day after a first morning of closure Thursday, April 13. The decision follows the threats of an attack “against non-Christians“made on the digital workspace of the establishment, announced the prefecture.
“A message threatening to commit an attack at the Gustave Flaubert high school in Rouen was published on a private group in the digital workspace of a senior class“, indicated a first press release published on the night of Wednesday to Thursday. This internet portal, dedicated to high school students, is also accessible to parents and teachers.
“A security visit was carried out throughout the establishment by the national police and civil security deminers and the police. The site has been secured”, had then specified the prefect.
The prefecture finally announced that the establishment would remain closed this Friday following the receipt of another message with violent content. “If no threat has been confirmed at this stage, this measure (…) is taken as a precaution“, details the new press release.
A new investigation has been opened, entrusted to the judicial police of Rouen, which had already taken up the first message received on Wednesday.
At this stage, no threat has been confirmed, but a “reinforced security device” has been implemented and “civil security deminers“have also been mobilized, underlined the prefecture, which specifies that it is hard at work to file a complaint.
