“I think most teachers balance things out and don’t want to put students in difficulty during exams”estimated Wednesday March 15, 2023 on franceinfo, Bruno Bobkiewicz, secretary general of the National Union of National Education Management Staff (SNPDEN) and headmaster of the Hector-Berlioz school complex in Vincennes.
>> Bac 2023: final year students will not have class on Friday to be able to revise the specialty tests
The tests for the specialty lessons of the new baccalaureate will take place from Monday 20 to Wednesday 22 March. Students who arrive late – up to an hour – because of the transport strike against the pension reform will be able to enter the room and shift their exit time accordingly, announced the Ministry of Education.
Bruno Bobkiewicz fears that these baccalaureate exams are not going well because of the social movement. “This is a matter of concern, especially in sectors where establishments have had strong blocking attempts in recent days, such as in Marseille.” The general secretary of the SNPDEN considers that it is a climate “quite anxiety-provoking” and that it will not contribute to the “serenity” candidates. “Unfortunately, we have already experienced this in 2019, and we hope that this year, students will be able to compose and ensure their exams in good conditions.” In 2019, teachers’ unions had called for a strike by the supervision of the first tests to protest against the reform of the baccalaureate. Some teachers then refused to enter the marks of the candidates, or even to return the copies.
The Minister of National Education also asked, on Wednesday, that Friday and Saturday be devoted to revisions for final year students. An announcement, which Bruno Bobkiewicz judges “unacceptable” because’“we are 48 hours away from this deadline”. The principal of the Hector-Berlioz school complex in Vincennes will nevertheless try to do his best to apply this instruction: “We are going to do the basics. We are not able to build something intelligently elaborate. We are going to eliminate the common core courses and maintain the specialty slots for revisions.”
Bruno Bobkiewicz is worried about the signal sent: “We were in a logic of ‘an exam, it is not prepared the day before’. An exam, it is prepared well in advance, it is worked all year round. Logically, the day before, you have to take a little time for yourself, relax a bit and try to avoid the pressure”.
